Responsibilities (Job Specification)
Leadership and Vision:
·
To be responsible for the oversight and leadership of PBC’s
work with young people between ages 11 and 18.
·
To facilitate the establishing of a vision for youth work at
PBC.
·
To promote and implement this vision within the context of
the church’s wider vision.
·
To lead, motivate and offer pastoral support for the team of
voluntary youth leaders.
·
To liaise with leaders of other departments within the church
to ensure the smooth operation of the youth work.
·
To consult with parents, keeping clear lines of communication
in connection with activities, events and issues.
Hands-on duties:
·
To be responsible for the pastoral care and discipleship
programmes of young people at PBC.
·
To encourage young people in reaching their full potential as
Christians.
·
To be actively involved in the delivery of certain areas of
the youth work within the church.
·
To create opportunities to engage with the ‘hard to reach’
young people with church connections.
Broader Responsibilities:
·
To develop the ever-growing relationships that are being
established amongst the Churches Together In Poynton, particularly the
·
To work with other youth leaders, youth agencies and schools
on joint initiatives.
·
To contribute to the relevant evangelisation of young people
in the Community.

To uphold PBC’s policy on Child Protection across the span of
the youth work.
Person Specification

Experience:
·
Minimum 3 years experience of leading young people in a
Christian context
·
Worked in a full time youth leadership role
Qualifications:
·
Youth Work or other relevant qualification preferred

Knowledge:
·
Sound biblical knowledge and understanding
·
Awareness of youth culture and key issues facing young people
today
Skills and aptitudes:
·
Excellent communicator with all age groups, particularly
young people
·
Ability to apply biblical teaching in a relevant and
meaningful way
·
Able to plan and organise a programme of activities for young
people
·
Self-motivated
·
Able to work independently and in a team under the direction
of the Senior Minister
·
To be able to engage with young people at various stages in
their spiritual development, including those who do not relate easily to church
