FULL-ON FOR GOD
Finding my ministry (1)
Session 14
John
13:1-5, 12-17
Introduction
In this series
we’ve discovered (so far) that human beings have 3 purposes:
* we’re made to glorify God (Worship)
* we’re formed to belong in his family (fellowship)
* We’re challenged and resourced to be like Jesus
(spiritual maturity)
The fourth
purpose is:
We are shaped to serve God
In scripture,
words and terms like service, good deeds and ministry are all interchangeable
4 things about
ministry:
1. Every
Christian a Minister
Jer 1:5, Matt8:15,
‘Priesthood of
all believers’
M.O.T 43 - Have
we opted in to serving God?
2. The
purpose and source of ministry
1 Cor 12:7 – Partnership with the Holy
Spirit that impacts for good people’s lives
Possible areas of
service – acts of kindness, hospitality, helping the poor, preaching the word,
sharing the sacraments, being an instrument of peace and reconciliation,
putting out chairs, painting Fuorboys, showing compassion etc, etc
M.O.T 44
– Are
we relying on the Holy Spirit as we seek to serve?
3. We
belong together (we need one another)
M.O.T 45 – Are we serving the team or our own
agenda’s
4. We
are not saved by service but for service
We will all stand
before God and give account of the way we’ve served Him in our lives
M.O.T 46
– No
mote excuses

Reflect on the
factors that determine your ministry shape. Ask your friends and/or people in
your small group how they perceive you. Pray that God will reveal to you
greater clarity as you discover your ministry shape
