Separation caused by original sin and our ongoing sin, yet God has done 3 things to restore his original plan:

a) Incarnation, b) Cross, c) Pentecost

4 keys for clearing away the rubbish (and being like Jesus today):

M.O.T 32. Recognise our need (Matt 21:28-32)

M.O.T 33 Get in touch with the truth (John 8:32)

M.O.T 34 Nurture honesty (through authentic fellowship)(1 Jn 1:6-7)

M.O.T 35 Stay open to the spirit (2 Pet 1:21)

For reflection

The story of the Israelites in Exodus 16 is an example of the gullible nature of God’s people alongside the faithfulness of God. What is there for us today in this narrative:

· Human rebellion

· God’s provision

· God’s desire for us to keep his commands (v28)

· God’s wonderful faithfulness

Rubbish, please remove (eg: Gal 5: 19-21)

· Inappropriate ambition Unwilling to forgive/Bitter spirit

· False Idols Materialism

· Jealousy Lust, masturbation, adultery

· Bad temper Drunkenness

· Occult practice Unbelief, pride, hyper critical

· Chauvinism
