"WHY AM I HERE?"

Session 1

"A life devoted to things is a dead life, a stump; (whereas) a God- shaped life is a flourishing tree (Prov 11 :26 Msg).

"By Him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him" (Col 1:16 NIV).

So, Why am I here?

1)       It begins and ends with God (not me).

M.O.T. Check Point 1 - Are we focusing on God to reveal life's purpose?

2)       God has revealed the purpose to life through His word

(2 Tim 3:16 NIV).

Two insights from Eph 1:11:

Insight 1 - His purpose for your life predates your conception

M.O.T. Check Point 2 - Do we recognise that the overall general purpose to life is fixed by God, and is common to everyone?

Insight 2 - We discover both our identity and our purpose, only in Jesus Christ.

M.O.T. Check Point 3 - Are you His friend, and is He your Lord?

SIX POINTS FOR REFLECTION:

·  Life is not all about me (Col 1:16b Msg).

·  Are we focusing on God to reveal life's purpose? (Ps 121 & 123).

·  Recognise God's revelation through His word (2Tim 3:16).

·  God's purpose for life predates our conception (Eph 1:1 Msg).

·  Reflect on the benefits of being 'In Christ'.

·  God will accomplish His purposes through us (Ps 138:8).
