PBC - new building completed

The first Baptist Church was founded in Park Lane in 1862. This was demolished and replaced by a new brick construction during the ministry of David Pringle in 1971. This photograph below was taken in 1997 before the new building work started, the other afterwards.

Before                                            After

As the church expanded and the needs changed, it became necessary to extend the "old 1971" building in 1997/8, during the ministry of Rob White. The plans were drawn up to provide us with a spectacular atrium entrance, a new kitchen, a new  crèche, disable facilities, and an extra 30% in space upstairs, especially useful for children's work.

Lot's of new steel work went into the construction.

New Sunday Club rooms

Starting to take shape now.

Attractive atrium front taking shape

Recognisable, but lots to do inside.

Painting work, by Rob, Marion and Penny.

High ceilings to paint

The Energy room is different!

The most important job of all. Keep the workers happy!

Everything stops for tea!!

Started in 1997.

Finished in 1998!

On with the real work now!
