What
happened in Alpha
during '04?
ALPHA
has been a key element of evangelism in the church for approximately
eleven years and continues to attract those who wish to learn more about
the Christian faith. It also makes a significant contribution to the life
of the church in reaching out for Christ to the un-churched. We
have been running two courses per year and this year has been no
exception. At the close of the courses we have found that those attending
want to continue to meet in-order to both learn more and meet together
with their new friends. To meet this need we now run what has become We
have seen great things over the past year. The first step for many has
been in being bold enough to walk through the doors and declare a desire
to know more. Within a few weeks, life changes can be clearly seen by
members of the team as relationships and friendships have formed. The
honesty and openness we have experienced could only have been as a direct
result of the intervention of the Holy Spirit. Our brothers and sisters
have integrated into the life of the church and are a valuable part of the
family, enhancing and bringing their own special and unique qualities to
it. Members
of past groups have gone on to become group leaders, many have been
baptized and many have come to faith. We
thank God for His never ending faithfulness towards Alpha as a mechanism,
but most of all we are thankful to Him for His tender, loving strength and
support in holding those who are seeking secure in His arms, protecting,
cherishing and blessing. To
those of you who give your time to bake or shop for cakes for Alpha- a big
thank-you. Your generosity plays such an important part in blessing the
evening, making it warm, welcoming and friendly. Thanks go also to folk
who help at the Suppers too; they could not be done without you. As
group leaders we have the privilege of seeing lives changed, praying with
folk and witnessing at first hand our Father at work, for He above all
turns up every week; He is, you might say, The Team Leader. Each course
brings its own unique challenges, which keep us on our toes. May
God be glorified through this work. May He be forever given the praise for
what is happening within Alpha as He works out His plan in the lives of
His people. Please
pray for the team as we endeavour to do His work to the best of our
abilities. The
Alpha Team.
