Welcome to Poynton Baptist Church website.
Poynton Baptist Church is a church located in the heart of the community of Poynton, with a heart for the community of Poynton. We welcome everyone to join us in any of our events, activities and most especially with our worship services on a Sunday morning.
Our style is very informal. We use a mixture of worship material ranging from traditional hymns to contemporary worship songs all of which appear on a large screen. We try to bring together an emphasis on both Word and Spirit. Sunday morning worship commences at 10:30am, and Sunday evening worship commences at 6:30pm. All are most welcome to join us. We have a large modern church building, with kitchen/coffee bar, creche room, 6 upstairs rooms accessible by stairs or lift, and the recently connected large Upper Room (with kitchen) over the Asda Supermarket next door. Our vision summary is.......
We welcome all ages and have numerous programmes geared up to allow full participation of our members and regular attenders. We warmly welcome visitors, and you will find that our coffee is one of the best!
For Parents, Carers & Toddlers: Playaway, our Parent & Toddler group meet on Monday morning during term time, 9:30am to 11:30am. All Parents, Grandparents and Carers along with pre-school children are most welcome. Relax with a coffee and chat with others while your child plays then join in the singing after tidy up time. For children: Our children's work is a core part of what we are about and we value children and families as highly as we do couples or singles. Why not come along and see what we do on a Sunday morning, get to know who we are and what we're about? Services start at 10:30am and children's clubs and a creche happen at the same time. During the year, we have many special events specifically for children such as the Christmas and Easter Extravaganzas with workshops, games, drama, singing, stories and lots of fun. The Sunday Club groups also have their own events, where they can bring a friend along if they wish.
For Young People Youth work (ages 11 to 18) at PBC is focused on equipping young people and encouraging them to get involved. Called Energy, it is led by a team whose aim is to build friendships that will help young people to grow in faith. The team is led by Joe Smith as a Youth Worker. On a Sunday morning there is a youth meetings as part of the whole church worship gathering. Sometimes we break into groups but it is all about fun, chat, getting to know Jesus and building up friendships: with an informal, fast-paced style and talks about developing a personal relationship with God. Sometimes members of Energy are involved in services, leading worship, music, drama or simply helping out. There are midweek discussion groups and social events to help form friendships and bind all the different activities together. For example the Genesis small group is for years 7-9 and the Revelation small group is for 6th form, but there is a group for everyone. On Wednesday evenings we take a group of young people to join in the Genetik academy at the Message. Here there are opportunities to try out break dancing, singing or drum lessons and much more. Friday night is the Energy social night: sometimes we stay and chill out and sometimes we go out with visits including laser quest, Ice skating, 10pin bowling…. in fact anything could happen! For Couples: Marriage Course - for anyone in a relationship, the aim of this course is to grow closer and build a healthy relationship that will last a lifetime. The course lasts for 7 weeks, and the dates for the next course will be announced. For Everyone: For friendship, sharing, learning and supporting we have small groups. There are number of small groups meeting Monday evening, Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning, Thursday evening and Saturday morning. Contact the church office for details. Ever asked... What is the point of life? If you would like to explore any of these questions in a safe, no-pressure environment then the Alpha course if for you. For Seniors: We currently operate a cafe three times per week, open to all ages but many of our senior people come along to this welcoming and supportive environment. The cafe operates on Tuesdays, Thursday and Saturadays from 10am to noon. Our Senior Link team run a Twelve on Tuesday monthly service at noon lasting for 30 minutes, followed by a light lunch and speaker, or activities. The team also organises trips to local attractions and in the summer a 'Holiday at Home' week is held at PBC. You can come along with a friend or come on your own and be assured of a friendly welcome and inclusion in everything that's going on. For Golfers: We have a Golf Society that has been running since 1993. Our purpose is “To enjoy the game of golf with other Christian Golfers and invite non-Christians to join us on occasions, to build bridges and spread The Good News”.
and lots more.....
