NEWS RELEASE: 25th April 2004:

This Sunday will be Rob’s last as Senior Minister at PBC. He is at pains to point out that he is not retiring but rather will be working with the Baptist movement, Mainstrean, in a trans-local, apostolic role. He will also be developing his work with the Manchester church scene, particularly working with leaders.

PBC are extremely grateful to Rob and Marion for the huge contribution they have made in shaping the church into the thriving and innovative community of faith it has become. Rob has brought many emphases and skills which the Lord has powerfully used, not least in Rob’s passion for renewal in worship and engaging in meaningful mission. He has also played a significant role in the work amongst the churches together in Poynton. Whilst both Rob and Marion will continue to be part of the fellowship at PBC, their ministry skills, in this new role, will be enjoyed by a wider audience. They will both be greatly missed at PBC.

There will be the opportunity for a more formal farewell celebration in October – indeed Rob will be involved in leading and preaching at PBC over the next 6 months. Please pray for Rob and Marion as they move forward in faith and for the church as it transitions to the next chapter in its life.

The Praise with Africa Choir

Bringing the vibrant, colourful & traditional sounds of

African worship from Chililabombwe in Zambia to the UK.

The Church was packed from front to back.

In their home church there is a praise team of about 60. On this UK Tour there are about 22. They love to sing, dance and perform drama. Their town is situated in the copper belt within Zambia, where there is 75% unemployment. In the past 7 years the members of the church constructed a large building for their worship centre. The UK tour in 2002 raised money for the massive steel roof.

Display of the New Beginnings Primary School in Zambia

The New Beginnings School started in January 2004 and is housed in the church building. Each year there will be a fresh intake of 70 children. The tour and gifts help to support the school in terms of child sponsorship and purchase of desks, chairs and classroom equipment.

The next need is to build a new block of four classrooms for the next intake, and so help more children receive a good education, that would not normally be possible by any other means. 'Praise with Africa' is a registered charity 700456 and administered by New Beginnings.

Promoters of the event

United Christian Broadcasters Ltd (UCB) is a Christian charity and one of the UK’s leading Christian media ministries.
